Penwith: Hayle Sands

The MP for St Ives, Andrew George, was set to meet the executive committee of the Hayle pressure group ‘Save our sand’ last Wednesday evening.

Campaigners and the MP were expected to debate the issue of sand removal from the estuary as the summer cessation of dredging comes under review in October.

Mr George, a resident of St Ives, has also made contact with various organizations (the Environment Agency, Trinity House, Penwith Council and the harbour office) in order to facilitate finding an answer to public concern regarding the removal of sand in Hayle.
