North Cornwall: Boscastle insurers play Act of God cardMany people who suffered losses during the Boscastle floods in August have been unable to get due compensation as insurance companies claim the flash floods were 'an act of God' and therefore are not eligable for insurance claims. Seventy-six cars are still missing from the village, feared washed out to sea but only a fraction of those people who lost cars have seen cheques for compensation. Insurance companies issuing policies that cover properties and household effects are also reportedly using the 'act of God' clause to not pay out. |
