Realising he was a few minutes early, he decided to sink a quick drink in the Blue Anchor pub opposite the surgery. On his was out, he bumped into an old acquaintance and had a quick chat before crossing over the road to talk to another old friend who happened to be passing. A little disoriented, he crossed the road again and went into the office next to the Blue Anchor and took a seat in the waiting room. Half an hour later, frustrated by the long wait, the man asked the receptionist how much longer he would have to wait to see the optician, to which he was told: “You won’t get an eye test in here.
