Restormel: New Development will Improve NewquayNewquay could soon benefit from a massive new development called the Newquay Growth Area. The growth area involves a piece of land opposite Treherras School and is the result of five days of intense community collaboration involving 150 people and is led by the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment. The exciting new plans - that local council officials hope will enter its first phase in 2016 - propose employment space, health and community facilities, enhanced transport links, a new primary school, local shops, a mosque, a new Catholic church and 1,200 new homes. There would be two urban districts linked by a grass corridor on the path of the existing Chapel stream and linking in with other green areas. The buildings will be made from Cornish granite and take on a traditional design. It is hope that the new growth area will be a catalyst for investment and raise the quality of the whole of Newquay. |
