Restormel: Jamie Oliver to Open Restaurant in Cornwall!Celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver has announced intentions to open a restaurant in Cornwall The restaurant will be the third Fifteen restaurant and is planned to be located near the beach at Watergate Bay just outside Newquay. The other two Fifteen restaurants are located in Amsterdam and Shoreditch in London. The restaurants are part of the Fifteen Foundation which in its own words exists "to inspire disadvantaged young people – homeless, unemployed, overcoming drug or alcohol problems - to believe that they can create for themselves great careers in the restaurant industry". Whilst Cornwall's reputation as a foodie haven has become well established over the last few years with the likes of Rick Stien, the recognition that Cornwall has social problems has been pretty well ignored. It is therefore hoped that not only can the Fifteen Foundation help a small number of trainees in the Watergate Bay restaurant, but raise awareness of the plight of many young people in the duchy. Jamie Oliver said, "It is great to be bringing this type of training to another part of England, we hopefully will continue to open restaurants and inspire in many more areas that would benefit from having the Foundation."
