Restormel: ST AUSTELL: Inquiry on luxury development

Developers have pledged to press ahead with plans for a £200 million luxury development at Carlyon Bay despite the scheme being called in for a public inquiry.
The inquiry, called by Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, is to look at the plans to demolish the former Cornwall Coliseum and build 511 luxury holiday flats on the site.
Ampersand, who are behind the project, say the scheme is Cornwall’s biggest ever private housing investment.
However, members of Carlyon Baywatch who are opposed to the plans, are delighted by the news.
A spokesperson for the group said that not enough work has been done on how the development with affect the local infrastructure and environment
