Carrick: Exclusive Preview of Jewellery

Jewellery lovers in Cornwall are to be given the perfect chance to drop subtle hints about what they would like for Christmas thanks to a Truro business.
Avant Garde, a contemporary jewellery gallery based in Pydar Mews, will be holding its first ever preview evening which it hopes will give customers the opportunity to beat the traditional Christmas rush.

"Last year was our first Christmas in Truro and the demand did take us by surprise," stated owner Diddy Reeve. "By the time Christmas week came we were worried that the cabinets would start to look sparse, such was the popularity of the ranges."

"This year we wanted to make sure that our regular customers would have plenty to choose from, so we approached our two most popular Cornish designers to preview some pieces which have never been seen before."

The exclusive preview will feature new work from Penzance designers Jack Trowbridge and Zoe Marie, who have both built up a good reputation and following with collectors.

According to Miss Reeve, the evening preview, which takes place on Tuesday 22 November from 5.30pm, will be a unique chance for customers to see the two designers’ new work before it goes on general display.

"It will be a great time for people to handle and try the designs at their leisure, and get first dibs on their favourites," continued Miss Reeve. "And as well as buying the pieces, people will also be able to meet Jack and Zoe, as they will be both here on the night."

Goldsmith, Mr Trowbridge, who is well known to collectors in Cornwall and the rest of the country for his distinctive silver and gold work, has already exhibited over 300 designs at Avant Garde.

Zoe Marie has also made an impression with her work despite establishing her business only five years ago. Miss Reeve has found that her work with precious and semi-precious stones is so popular that Zoe Marie has difficulty in keeping up with demand.
"I'm really looking forward to the evening. Its exciting as its our first preview event, and I feel its something that people will get a lot out of especially as they will be able to meet the designers," added Miss Reeve.

“There will be something for everyone with prices starting at £25 for a pair of Jack’s silver earrings, ranging up to over £1000 for one of Zoë’s stunning three claw rings.�
