Kerrier: Hackney Carriage Tariffs to riseAt a recent meeting, Kerrier’s Licensing Committee agreed to increase the Taxi Tariffs for Hackney Carriages within the Kerrier District. The changes will come into force on Saturday, 1st April 2006, after the required legal formalities have been undertaken. Bob Mears, Kerrier’s Licensing Officer said: ‘These changes have come about following a request from the Kerrier and District Taxi and Private Hire Association for an increase in Hackney Carriage Tariffs. This is the first increase in Hackney Carriage Tariffs since 2004 and the Committee agreed that an increase would take into account the increase in fuel charges and the general rate of inflation. Details will be advertised in the local press prior to the changes taking effect.’ Cllr Philip Martin, Chairman of the Licensing Committee added: ‘We were asked by the Kerrier and District Taxi and Private Hire Association to increase the Hackney Carriage Tariffs. The Licensing Committee carefully considered the request, taking into consideration the amount of time since the last increase, inflation and recent fuel price increases and feels that a good balance has been reached, for both the Taxi and Private Hire Association and members of the public, some of which rely on taxi and private hire transport.’ Details about the tariff changes are available up on request from Kerrier’s Licensing Team who can be contacted on 01209 614417. |
