Overseas: And another Cornish successA Cornish man has won the world’s toughest endurance race. Bob Brown, of Stoke Climsland, has been running 50 miles a day sine June 12 to finish the 3,100 mile ultra-marathon from California to New York three days ahead of his nearest rival. Running into New York City’s Central Park, Bob said he was looking forward to a cool beer. Bob, a teacher, was sponsored by pasty giants Ginsters who kept him supplied with his main fuel. At one stage he was eating eight pasties a day to keep the calorie count up, but still managed to lose two stone in weight on the journey. He also wore through five pairs of trainers. |
