New KRENA line-up at Saturday's gigKRENA play at the Stannary's day at Keay Theatre, Saturday, 20th May 2006 Saturday evening sees Cornish language rock band KRENA playing for the first time with its new bass player. Tim Chapple joined after the departure of Dennis Church (who was only with the group for a short time). Tim has a strong connection with Cornish music, as he runs www.cornishmusic.com. His bass playing brings a new edge to the sound, making us sound more like Kula Shaker and The Cure. One new song getting its first outing is KRENA's own version of 'Ow Avon Splann' - a folk song written by the late Brian Webb. In 2005, KRENA won the PanCeltic Song Contest with their song 'Fordh dhe Dalvann'. Word has it that the band has a song ready to return to Ireland, hopefully to bring back the trophy to Cornwall again. KRENA was launched in early 2003 after SKWARDYA stopped playing live. It is made up of: * Matthew Clarke (vocals) * Dan Phipps (lead guitar) * Tim Chapple (bass) * Tom Phipps (drums) |
