Kerrier: NEW WEBSITE CONTAINS THOUSANDS OF PHOTOS OF CORNWALL’S PASTA fascinating new website containing thousands of photographs of Cornwall and its history will be officially launched at a new exhibition displaying a selection of the images at The Cornwall Centre at 2.30pm on Wednesday, June 14th. The website “Photographs of Cornwall” has been created through a partnership of The Cornwall Centre and House of Images, a leading supplier of image databases and collection management systems for libraries and museums. The website will be officially launched by Eric Brooke, the County Council’s Executive Member for Community Services, at the exhibition of photographs from the website which will run at The Cornwall Centre until June 30th. Also attending Wednesday’s launch will be Terry Knight, Principal Librarian, local councillors, representatives of local history groups and members of the public. The website – www.cornwallphotoimagesbank.co,uk – contains approximately 2,000 photographs selected from the Cornwall Centre’s extensive library of more than 150,000 images depicting the county’s history. “The Cornwall Centre has a wonderful collection of images which help to bring the county’s past to life “ said Terry Knight. “We hope this new website will highlight this incredible photographic resource and encourage members of the public to go online to see their history for themselves “. The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 6pm on Mondays to Fridays, and from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays until June 30th. |
