Novel Set Partly In Cornwall Wins AwardFledgling novelist Ken Sweet has been listed as an "Author To Follow" for his work, a spiritual adventure wherein much of the action takes place in west Cornwall. NEW HAMPSHIRE, USA--The Internet publishing company Chevalier Editions has announced Laconia, New Hampshire (USA) author Ken Sweet as their “Otherside Author to Follow” for June 2006. The monthly contest was created to spotlight worthy literary work published outside of Chevalier Editions. Sweet, who was selected for the company’s inaugural contest, is being recognized for his first novel, a mystical work of fiction that takes place in Britain, including a sizeable section set in the Penwith district of west Cornwall. “Every once in a while, an author comes along who is able to pull together the many elements of fiction writing in a tour de force,” reads the editor’s post on the Chevalier Editions website. “Typically, the tour de force comes later in an author’s writing career, after many years of honing craft’s blade. Atypically, but always with a sense of wonder and enlightenment, it comes from a first novel. Clean is just such a first novel.” Mr. Sweet, who visits Cornwall annually, found inspiration for the book during a recent three-month jaunt across Britain. "I drew a lot of inspiration from primitive sites, such as Carn Euny, and a variety of holy wells, as well as the stunning natural landscape to be found in Cornwall." Sweet is proud of his work and grateful for the recognition Chevalier Editions has awarded him. “Chevalier Editions goes above and beyond to help new authors by showcasing outside work,” Sweet said. “Getting a new novel recognized is difficult. Awards, good reviews, and positive word of mouth are absolutely essential for it to have any chance in such a tough market. Now Clean has been lucky enough to receive all three.” The entire text of the Chevalier Editions article is available at http://chevaliereditions.com/news/2006/07/06/atf-ken-sweet/ Clean is available from fine booksellers worldwide.
