Kerrier: New plans for Camborne-RedruthKerrier District Council have just announced the consultation period for the Kerrier and Camborne-Redruth plans, as part of the Local Development Framework process. The idea is to set out development proposals for the next 20 years. The six week consultation period ends on September 15th. The plans for Camborne-Redruth suggest considerable change for the area. Due to population growth, a result of the continued movement of people to Cornwall and government policy to focus development on urban centres, Camborne-Redruth will have to cater for a significant expansion in its developed area. With limited brownfield land available, the Council has put forward a list of large greenfield sites, some of which it is intended will be developed within the plan period. CoSERG commented that the proposals in the plans raised fundamental questions about the sustainability of the continued growth of Camborne-Redruth and its impact upon community cohesiveness. Details of the planning documents can be found on the District Council website:- http://www.kerrier.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=19785 |
