Restormel: POLTAIR STUDENTS TAKE PART IN ST PIRAN’S ASSEMBLYStudents from Poltair School will be celebrating their Cornish culture on Monday, March 5th when they take part in a special assembly involving a performance of Trelawney in Cornish, a reading of the story of St Piran and a Celtic prayer. The St Piran’s Day Assembly, which is being led by Head of Music Kate Samuels, will involve more than 120 year 7 students who are busy rehearsing the Cornish songs, reading and prayers for the event which will take place at 1.45pm. Other activities will include a performance of Cornish folk music – all in front of a Cornish flag and Cornish tartan. This is the first of a series of events aimed at encouraging students to celebrate their Cornish culture. Kate Samuels is already planning a similar event involving a performance of the Floral Dance in May. |
