Penwith: MEBYON KERNOW TO CONTEST ST IVESSt Ives Constituency Branch of Mebyon Kernow - The Party for Cornwall have decided to contest the St Ives parliamentary seat at the next General Election. Meeting over the weekend in Penzance, the branch's Annual General Meeting was told by their re-elected Secretary, Penzance councillor Phil Rendle: "Over the last few years pressure has built up within the party and among its supporters for the electors of west Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to once again be given the opportunity to vote for a nationalist candidate. I think now is the time to make that decision." Penzance councillor Richard Clark, who was elected Branch Chairman at the meeting, said: "We must offer electors the opportunity to support a candidate whose priority will be to serve the people of Cornwall in general and the people of the constituency in particular." |
