Carrick: Surfer Drowned at PerranporthThe body of a surfer was recovered from the sea last night off Perranporth. A 999 call was made informing coastguards that there was someone in trouble off Droskyn Point to the South of the main beach. Perranporth's inshore lifeboat and a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose were involved in the search but it was the local coastguard cliff rescue team that located and recovered the body. Devon and Cornwall Police have said the man was in his late 20s and that his next of kin are being informed. What is not clear is the circumstances in which the man drowned. A surfboard was found near the body but at the time of the incident only a small swell was running. |
