Caradon: BOOST FOR COMMUNITY EVENTS IN SOUTH EAST CORNWALLIn a bid to boost local events Caradon District Council is scrapping fees for community organised events held in its parks. Jerry Masters, Caradon’s head of operations and technical services, said: “Rising insurance costs and new licensing requirements by central government are making it increasingly difficult for communities and charities to organise free or low cost events. “By scrapping fees for applications to use our parks for these events, we hope to help ensure the survival of non-commercial traditional fetes and fun days that might otherwise disappear.” Permission still needs to be sought from Caradon to hold events on council land, and charges will still be made for commercial events. For more information about holding events on council land, ring Caradon’s Estates team 01579 341224. |
