Penzance Girls Show Promise In DefeatPenzance Youth team had only their second ever match on Saturday, as they took on their counterparts from Irish club, Ballincollig AFC. The Magpies were 5-0 down by half-time, against their much more experienced visitors, who netted four times in the first 14 minutes. But the Magpies improved as the game went on and despite eventually losing 8-0, created more and more chances in the latter stages, which showed much promise. The Irish survived a few scares and their keeper collected well from an audacious 25-yard effort. Saturday morning Girls' Football coaching sessions, run by Penzance Ladies FC, move back outdoors from April 14th. The sessions, for girls aged 6 to 15 years, run from 10am-12:00 on the grass behind Penzance Astro (at the rear of the Fire Station). The costs is only Ł1.50, with coaching and games in seperate age-groups, taken by qualified coaches from Penzance LFC. The club intends to enter several teams into girls' leagues for next season. Meanwhile, girls aged 15 and over can instead attend women's training at Penzance FC, every Thursday (7pm). Call 01736 874689 for any further information. |
