Caradon: SAINTS AND SINNERS RAMBLEThere’s a chance to join a free guided ramble across Blacktor Downs to Temple near Bolventor and part of Colliford Lake Park on Wednesday 16 May. Organised by Caradon District Council, the Saints and Sinners Ramble is one of a series of monthly walks for health and pleasure designed for people of all ages. The day starts at 10.00am at the Colliford Lake Park Café with morning coffee. Local historian and botanist Martin Summers and bird watching expert Dave Winter will lead the walk across Blacktor Downs to discover the history of Cornwall’s Gretna Green and the home of the Knights Templar. After a break for lunch back at the café, the day continues with a tour of the lake’s parkland where the guides will explain the nature of the flora and fauna to be found in the wildlife sanctuary. The walk is around four miles long and flat and is likely to be muddy in places The Saints and Sinners Ramble is free of charge, but places need to be booked in advance. Walkers will also need to bring or buy their own lunches. To find out more about this and other walks, or to book a place, contact Pat Gormley on 01579 348749. |
