Penzance Ladies Football 6-a-sidesThe annual Penzance Ladies FC Football Fiesta takes place on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May at Penlee Park, with 22 teams competing from across the country. Sponsored by sportswear and leisurewear suppliers 'Errea', the 6-a-side event has attracted teams such as Cardiff City, Millwall and Rushden & Diamonds, with the hosts, plus Marazion, Newquay and Truro City providing the local interest. The action at Penzance FC begins at 10am both days, through to around 6pm. Refreshments and a barbecue will be available throughout. Penzance LFC hold their Presentation Evening at the Queens Hotel on Friday June 1st, and their AGM at the Magpies Club on Sunday June 3rd from 7pm. Any new players, or those looking to get involved with a female football club, are welcome to attend. Additional committee members are required, plus a manager for the U12 Girls team, who expect to be playing league football next season. Meanwhile, rainjacket training tops are being provided for all the girls' teams. The next action for the Magpies is in the FA Umbro 5s South West Region Finals, at Plymouth's Central Park on June 10th. The event winners progress to the finals at Wembley Stadium! The U10s and U12s may take part at a 7-a-side competition at Bodmin Dragons Leisure centre on Saturday June 2nd, from 10am. The U15s go to Almondsbury on June 9th for a 6-a-side tournament, whilst the Girls' Coaching sessions continue on Saturday mornings throughout the summer, 10am-12:00 at the rear of Penzance Astro. Cost is Ł1.50. With a view to boosting numbers and launching successful campaigns for the firsts and reserves next season, there will be dates announced for a series of Open Training Nights. All those aged 15+ interested in joining the club are invited to attend. Meanwhile, pre-season friendlies begin with a home game for the first team against Torpoint on Thursday July 12th, at a venue to be arranged.
