Saturday Art at Helston MuseumCalling all young people in the Helston area to dress for mess and get creative every Saturday! Kerrier District Council’s Leisure Team has launched a brilliant new programme of activities for 2008 which includes the introduction of a Saturday Art Club at Helston Folk Museum. Saturday Art starts on Saturday, 12 January and will run every week from 10.30am – 12.30pm. All children over five can attend, but five to seven year olds will need to be accompanied by an adult. The activity costs £3 per child which is inclusive of all the materials needed and refreshments, adults go free! Sasha Dobrota, Outreach Manager said: “Our children and young people will be able to explore the museum’s amazing collections through a range of hands on fun and creative activities. A team of artists and volunteers will be offering lots of fantastic activities including collage, willow weaving, painting, printing and making scrapbooks. We hope to be able to have regular exhibitions of the children’s and artists work at the museum.” Councillor Loveday Jenkin, Portfolio Holder for Leisure added: “Helston Museum is a fantastic place to explore local and Cornish heritage in a fun way. The activities will appeal to children of all ages and will enrich their experiences and understanding of the past.
