Kerrier: Cultural events – Kerrier surveyAre you involved in sport, arts and performance, heritage, hobbies or events and festivals? If so, Kerrier District Council would like to invite you to take part in a survey of cultural events, activities and venues in the Kerrier district which will feed into a district wide publication. The results of the survey will be used to produce a list of cultural events and activities, festivals, venues and heritage sites for publication as well as to find ways to help communities provide these activities more easily. This could be by increased marketing and publicity, shaping the services provided by the Council or through the targeting of available of funding. There are two questionnaires – one regarding cultural activities and events, the other regarding venues, and are available on the Kerrier District Council website where they can be completed on line. Alternatively, paper copies are available by contacting Amanda McClure in the Policy and Performance Team at the Council. All questionnaires must be completed and returned by 30th May 2008. The survey forms part of the work being carried out by a Single Issue Panel set up by the Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Arts and Culture Councillor Loveday Jenkin who said: “The word “culture” can often mean different things to different people. The Single Issue Panel has agreed that “culture” should include all those organised activities and venues that make a positive impact on our lives and help define where we live and who we are. Culture in this context includes sport, arts and performance, heritage, hobbies and pastimes as well as festivals and events. Many local events are an important part of community life and I am keen to support them”. |
