Restormel: Hundreds of jobs to go at RAF St Mawgan?Following the news that some services at RAF St Mawgan are to be moved elsewhere County Council Leader John Lobb said: “The announcement by Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram that helicopter support services are to leave RAF St. Mawgan in future years means the loss of a significant number of highly skilled jobs in mid Cornwall, which is to be regretted. However, we are heartened by the Minister’s emphasis that this does not signal the closure of the base.� Restormel: ST AUSTELL: Inquiry on luxury developmentDevelopers have pledged to press ahead with plans for a £200 million luxury development at Carlyon Bay despite the scheme being called in for a public inquiry. The inquiry, called by Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, is to look at the plans to demolish the former Cornwall Coliseum and build 511 luxury holiday flats on the site.
