North Cornwall: CATHOLIC BISHOP PLEDGES SUPPORT TO NORTH CORNWALL FLOOD VICTIMS


The Catholic Bishop of Plymouth,UK,whose Diocese includes Cornwall has pledged the support of the Catholic Church to help victims of the recent floods.        Bishop Christopher Budd had contacted Father Bryan Storey,Priest in Charge of Tintagel Catholic Church,the catholic church covering the entire disaster area.He asked Father Bryan to visit areas of the parish devasted by the floods and meet the victims o­n his behalf.

North Cornwall: PLAYDAY IN CAMELFORD A BIG SUCCESS.


Around 30 children,aged 5 to 13, from Camelford & surrounding villages attended a Playday at Sir James Smith School today.
The day was organised by the Cornwall Children`s Fund.Organisers and children thought it was a great success dispite being held indoors at the last moment due to the weather. Children were able to take part in Drama,Arts & Crafts and sports sessions.

North Cornwall District Council today officially closed St Nectans Glen to the public.Officials from the council swooped o­n the home of Barry & Jean Litton yesterday.They surveyed the Glen and asked the couple,who own the Waterfall and most of the Glen, if they would close it.When Mr & Mrs Litton refused so the Councill enforced the closure o­n Health & Safety grounds.

North Cornwall: CAMELFORD CHURCH CAFE SCOPES £2000 PRIZE


A church cafe and centre which is used by many members of the public especially teenagers has scooped £2000 in a competion sponsored by the internet firm AOL.
    A spokesperson for the church told us that they were delighted to have received the letter notifying them of the win and they look forward to travelling to London to collect their prize.
It will be used to buy computers for the children and teenagers to use in the "Hard Rock" cafe.
Children are able to use games and buy drinks at a prize affordable to them and it gives them somewhere to go with their friends.

AOL will be putting out a formal media release at a later date!

Residents have started the long and painful process of clearing up the debris from Monday's flooding.Many local people are still homeless but have endeavoured to claim back what little is left of their homes.
