The women's South West regional and Cornwall League's get underway this Sunday. In the South West Premier, Penzance hosts last season's runners-up, Yeovil Town, 2pm at Penlee Park. Newquay Reserves make their league debut in Division 1 South, as the Cornwall champions host Somerset league winners, Holway United, 2pm at Mount Wise.

Penzance Ladies FC staged a Girls' Free Football Funday on Sunday, with 50 participants aged between 7 and 16 years turning up at Bolitho School. There was coaching, skills and games, plus goody-bags for all and prizes in various categories.

Cornish netball club given home draw in Challenge Cup


Redruth based Storm Netball Club have been handed a home tie in the Preliminary Round of the Netball UK Challenge Cup. The club, which was formed last July and is playing it’s first season in the Cornwall League, will be at home to Norwich Division One side Thoroughbreds. The Challenge Cup is a brand new competition and involves clubs from across Cornwall and England.
