Andrew George Speaking in the House of Commons

Welcome to my new look website, which I intend will offer you a new interactivity and usefulness. We are still adding features – news, surveys (and their findings), articles, links – to tell you more about the work done in Westminster on your behalf and about this constituency which we are so fortunate to live in and I am so proud to represent. You will find a number of pages where information is still being gathered – but over the next few weeks this site should become an invaluable source of constituency information with increasingly detailed coverage of West Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly and how we all fit in.

The Constituency Team

The constituency office team consists of: One MP, one office manager, one part-time secretarial assistant, one part-time caseworker and a part-time constituency events assistant.

Between them they deal with an average 300 letters, calls and emails each week and tackle casework contents for around 13,000 constituents a year.

They run one of the busiest constituency offices in the country – representing over 100,000 constituents from all of the Lizard and Land's End peninsulas (including some of the rural hinterlands of Camborne, Redruth and Falmouth) and the whole of the Isles of Scilly.

...and at Westminster

Working alongside the Constituency Team is the Westminster office: That MP (again) with one full-time parliamentary researcher – who provides essential material, back-up and research to help casework and campaigning.

Is culling badgers the answer? Is exterminating badgers good science? In 2005 Andrew wrote an article for Farmer's Weekly which is still relevant for farmers, cattle – and badgers.

THE ENVIRONMENT IS A PLEASURE WORTH FIGHTING FOR

"Andrew George joins birdwatchers on the Hayle estuary to enjoy the sights. "We have so many bird species passing through here," he says. "Here and at Marazion Marsh, in the Helford creeks and, of course, on the Isles of Scilly. Great variety in beautiful, fragile landscape. All wonderful – and all vulnerable to accident, greed, carelessness or development. We need to be on our guard always."
