Part art pottery and part ceramics museum, Leach Pottery in St Ives has been in operation for around 100 years. Considered the birthplace of British studio pottery, you can tour its gallery spaces to see some of the original designs of Bernard Leach and partner Shoji Hamada, as well as creations from some of the most important ceramic artists of the modern day.

Passing through the site's original workshop and ceramics studio, you'll get a feel for all that pottery work entailed at the turn of the twentieth century, from the art and design to the kilt-drying process that could see an artist's hard work literally go up in smoke.

But Leach Pottery also gives you the chance to have a go at pottery work yourself, with both children's and adult workshops available should you wish to create your own museum-worthy masterpiece.
