Murdoch House in Redruth was the first house in the world to have gas lighting. In this house over 200 years ago William Murdoch, the father of the modern gas industry, pioneered the first practical system of piped-gas lighting anywhere in the world. Murdoch House is hoping to win £50 000 in the People’s Million’s competition – but it needs people to phone in to vote for them.
