Actualy TK, I work for MyCornwall.tv and in the few hours that it's been open there have been many assumptions made, despite its massive potential for Cornwall, the Cornish people and our jobs.
It is run by a core team of people who are passionate about Cornwall, people who are a lot more in tune with the problems we face here than you have assumed.
MyCornwall.tv is based on campus at Falmouth University and aims to work closely with the students there to provide jobs and training within the Duchy rather than them having to leave to find similar work.
The Channels are, at the moment, aimed at Cornish ex-pats but more channels are going to be introduced over time. We need a local news service and we need a local media service but for now the TV station needs to be nurtured by the 10,000,000 Cornish diaspora around the world until it has established itself.
This is a good thing for Cornwall!

Great I thought. Cornwall's only tv channel, so I immediately subscribed to myKernow.
Not long into the programmer I nearly died from apoplexy. The commentator described Cornish boxer Bob Fitzsimmons as, '…the first ever 'ENGLISHMAN' to win the world heavyweight championship!
Jesus H Christ!  Whatever next? The Cornish Uprising of 1497, led by Englishman Michael Joseph?

As TK says – another Anglo Colonist hive inhabited by armchair, 'cream tea' (with scones not splits !) nationalists.
I was suspicious the minute I saw Eden and then the Fifteen 'wonga' Restaurant listed (who the hell of us that are real Cornish – or any other real people on £5.60 an hour – could ever afford to go to thse places ?!), comforted when I saw Dr Alan Kent – surely one of Kernow's finest academics with nationalist sympathies too if you read his books and plays, then saddened when I saw exactly what Curnow has said above.
These nouveau Cornish have a lot to learn. And I thought 'Things' was proud to be Cornish, first and last ? As with so many others (councillors and assorted politicos included), I 'spect. like to 'talk the talk' but when it comes to 'walking the walk' well……………
A turn off and switch off for me ! I'm off to Rock and Padstein for a taste of real Cornwall, yah!

You are not the authority when it comes to who is or who isn't Cornish.
Besides, being Cornish is not defined by your wages, what food you like or what books you read.
Like with any nationality, we are individuals wth a shared collective identity.

Oh, but Allister, you might be surprised what an authority I am when it comes to saying who is and who is not Cornish. And even if I weren't, I would know that Bob Fitzsimmons would probably qualify as being one of us rather than English ! Allister – mmm, interesting name. Cornish is it ?
