It would seem that Cornwall's success in reaching Twickenham on a number of occasions was the catalyst for the formation of the TA Club. As might be expected the changes in Cornwall's fortune and demotion of the championships has resulted in the dwindling membership. Like in every walk of life it needs to build in a contingency plan to take account of fair weather friends. Lot of references to 'county' in that WMN article
