Apparently there is a city in Ontario Canada called Cornwall. Here's there official website http://city.cornwall.on.ca/ Doesn't appear to be the most happening place on earth or have much in common with the genuine article but I thought I'd let you know about it anyway. |

There are lots of places all over the world with Cornish names. Many Australian towns have Cornish street names. There is even a part of South Africa and Victoria, Australia called Little Cornwall. There are 11 million people of Cornish descent around the would compared to 5 million Scots. The Cornish certainly know how to breed... |

Hi Kate, where did you get the figure 11 million of Cornish descent? I read 8 million somewhere once but can't remember where |

I wouldn't say the Cornwall in Canada is quite as dead as you suggest chris, as I subscribe to news alerts on Cornwall and most of them seem to be on the one in Canada. But of course it's nowhere near as great as our Cornwall |

Little Cornwall is in South Australia not Victoria. It consists of 3 towns named the copper triangle. I was there in the 80s, when Brenda Wooten was the guest at the Kernowek Lowender festival they have every 2nd year. it's very popular, over 30,000 people turn up and booking accomodation has to be done almost 2 years in advance. There's many Cornish names everywhere here, especially where there's been mining. As I always say to my Aussie friends. "we're think on the ground here" |

There's a Truro in Canada too. Google seems to think it is more important than our Truro! http://www.town.truro.ns.ca/ |

I guess for people in Nova Scotia it probably is; there can't be a lot else |
