Being surrounded by shafts it is amazing how few times you see this sign, this particular one can't be nearby because the hawthorn trees are a little too upright, it must be more inland. Ours tend to look show quite clearly which direction is west http://www.geocities.com/st_agnes_forum/track_towancross.jpg |

Dunno where this one is (there are lots!), but on a quizzical note, does anyone know where exactly in St Just the Goodies filmed "Bunfight at the OK Tea Rooms"? |

My guess is the shafts around the back of Kenidjack Farm, near Kenidjack Castle. |

I'm not so sure, as I recall the high land at Kenidjack is heath but on this picture the high land in the background looks more like fields, unless of course it is not high land at all, but distant coast. |

The Goodies was made in Cape Cornwall Street, the old cinema was the outside of the tea rooms. They walked passed the houses opposite [same house 2 or 3 times] in the " high noon" scenes. My brother met them when they were there. Not sure where the other ourdoor scenes were but looked like Balswidden area to me. |

It is West Cornwall, but it isn't any of the places suggested so far and it definitely hasn't featured in the Goodies! |

Hm, a mine shaft in West Cornwall - that narrows it down a bit |

Thanks, Diane! I might have to make a pilgrimage there over the weekend! |

There are one or two mines noted to the east of St Buryan, but this is hardly mining Country |

That's the one! Thought I was going to have to tell you. It's the only place I've actually seen that particular sign so I thought someone would know. Back to the archives. I have just the picture in mind, I only took it on Sunday |

I truly did not look at page 2 of this quiz before I wrote Sancreed Beacon. I have walked that area many times and recognised it from that. Wish I had seen it before the answer was given as I'm sure no-one will believe me now. |
