In 1652 the English puritan preacher, Roger Williams complained that "we have Indians in Cornwall, Indians in Wales, Indians in Ireland".

The Cornwall Heritage Trust is an organisation which protects Cornwall's ancient landmarks. It owns and maintains places of interest such as Treffry Viaduct, Castle-an-Dinas, Sancreed Beacon, The Paul's Smales Legacy, Trevanion Culverhouse. Some of the newer sites owned are Hurlers Stone Circles, Dupath Well, Tregiffian Burial Chamber, King Doniert's Stone, St Breock Downs Monolith ( was known as Men Gurta), Trethevy Quiot. The Trust was organised by a group of Cornish people who wanted to protect their landmarks, in 1985.
