"Duchess of Cornwall" and other blatant insults

Who else considers the repeated use of this title for some English Prince's wife a big kick in the knackers? I was horrified when I first heard it, and I still am now. It's bad enough living with a reminder of the English Prince's title, but to rub salt in Kernow's extensive wounds in more recent times is blatant disrespect, of the highest order. I'm sure this has been discussed many times before on these boards, but I've just got it on my mind right now. Perhaps we shouldn't get upset by it, because it's only a title awarded to an English person by English hierarchy - and what relevance does that have to Kernow? Maybe it's just the continued disrespect of Kernow by some of the English that gnaws on me the most.

It's obvious why England's power structure won't give up it's illegal hold on Kernow. It still wants to hand out nice little titles to its remaining privileged few..... titles which should, I suppose, make us Cornishmen feel 'grateful'......... or else controlled - probably the latter rather than the former. I for one object to these ongoing insults, and blatant disregard for our feelings - not to mention historical truth and justice. To all those in England believing Cornwall is a 'nice place to visit for holidays'; a place where you can sit and admire the 'quaintness' of the locals before returning to your particular form of reality east of the Tamar, think again. If you truly value Kernow, stand against the perception that it's simply a 'nice place to live' for retired English people; a nice place to associate English Royalty - with it's 'old fashioned ideals' and 'curious old stones'. Kernow needs you to support it's cause, and put an end to an ongoing legacy of insults.

The urge to tell you that your views are not welcome, as you do not live in Cornwall, is rather tempting.

But I must resist....

The urge to tell Stroppy that as he does not live in Cornwall his views are not welcome is rather tempting.

But I insist...

So now people who only 'live' in a place can have a view on that place.

Oh, that's OK then I can stop worrying about all the people in Lebanon or the starving in Africa as I do not live there.

Sorry guys, but I missed the irony.

Where has anyone said on this board that your views are not welcome as you don't live here?

English prince's title - no, that's British prince's title

English hierarchy - no, that's British hierarchy

England's power structure - no, that's Britain's power structure

retired English people - no, that's retired British people

Um...well actually England is in Britain so you can be an retired English person without that negating you being a retired British person too. And of course as we're talking a level of focus, once you've "zoomed in" past Britain as a whole there are nations on this island that differentiate themselves...and so it's perfectly valid for a Cornishman to be somewhat irked by the negative effect of English settlement...all without changing anyone status as a Briton.

Almost but substitute 'British' for 'English Imperial state AKA the UK'.

This is exactly my viewpoint. Thanks Fooboo. England is the target of my objection since history tells us that English armies killed 1 in 9 of my people in order to control Kernow. What blood Cornishman could truly overlook that level of hurt and injustice to his forefathers. The blatant insults that I've spoken of go deeper than titles and names. The biggest insult from my viewpoint, is the continuing lack of historical acknowledgement by England - specifically. England can only be accountable for it's continued lack of concern for Kernow and the Cornish. England has to power to recognize it's destruction, which has caused a legacy of damage to Kernow and it's future. England must stop insulting Kernow, apologize for serious historical wrongs, and recognize it's LEGAL right to co-exist as a land of minority people - seperate from itself.
