The vote on the flag says it all, do most of you really think it's an example of English oppression? PLeeese, Do you really think that someone is out to get you in that way, bring you down etc etc. it's just another law, there's plenty of useless laws out there, but none meaning oppression. So get planning permission for your flag pole and fly your flag, because you love your home land, if that's what you want to do. and stop going on and on about it. if you really believe all the hype, write to your MP, write to the PM. just stop whinging. being on the outside looking in, I have to agree with a lot Stroppy says.

Good on yer Diane.

Storm in a teacup methinks. I voted as well, and considered it to be a legislation issue not suppression of the Cornish people.

Whilst stroppy goes over the top occasionally icon_smile I also agree with him on some issues as well, this one for example.

Best Regards

Heyl John

Hello Diane and heyl john

I don't think it is an example of English imperialism, it is more to do with a government who are not at all sensitive to the Cornish. They probably did not even consider what reaction they would get from Cornwall when legislating.
On a practical level why should they consider Cornwall? It is a tiny region of no economic significance, far away from every where except Devon and the deep blue sea that votes Lib Dem. Its more to do with us being easily forgotten and/or ignored i think.

I think on a Cornish BB you might expect topics like this that reflect "constitutional matters" to attract a lot of attention and indeed hopefully engender some spirit. This is discriminatory legislation that prevents our flag from flying on a par with others in our own land. To many Cornish people it is the most relevant subject on this board; it is an assault on our equal freedom of expression. I would not expect the vote to be any different on a Cornish BB although it is suppression rather then oppression

...sorry had a visitor - can finish now. It is not particularly anti-Cornish per se but it affects Cornwall and any progress towards self-determination and expression. It's not whinging; it's very important to many Cornish people.

Haven't the Cornish got more important things to worry about?

It's just another in a line of poorly thought-out laws and this time it affects some of the Cornish. The majority just won't care.

In Zion, Illoinois, it is illegal to offer a pet a cigar.

I'm sure the government will have it's hands full policing the hunting law so I doubt they weren't purposely antagonising another minority.

Now this is where Troll is quite wrong.
I think the majority of Cornish people do care about the flag. They might not demonstrate but they all like seeing the flag around. If all the flags were to be taken down it is a very visable part of Cornwall that will be missing.

Not Really oppression by the "English" - more thoughtless actions by self-centered politicians and pen-pushers in London where the world ends west of Slough and North of Watford. "The English" is now simply a collection of many different races, colours and creeds who live in "England". Perhaps you should specify "Anglo Saxons" . . . . but then that would be racial too !. I live in the middle of Wales . . . the County of Powys as the Red Kite for an emblem and flag - and that can be seen all over the county . . . even in the air flying wild - the Londoners managed to wipe out their beautiful Red Kites years ago ! ! !

Any bus stops to write to your MP about lately Diane? This is a Cornish board with topics about Kernow, now the flag topic does tend to be important to us.

I know it's important to you, so do something about it!!, don't keep whinging, I know I whinged about Penzance bus station, it blew down,
[perhaps my prayers were answered] Then they build a set of [dare I say]FLAGS as shelters that wouldn't keep a fly warm or dry. I have complained, I have written letters, some haven't been printed. Let me add, I haven't whinged about it for ages. You are grabbing at straws by dragging it up after all this time, just to get one remark ahead, pathetic.

Grabbing at straws, what the hell are you talking about?. I am doing something about it Diane, writing letters, talking to Mebyon Kernow and flying the flag itself.
