C Jenkin,

I totally agree with you but i think most people in the Cornish movement who push for the recognition of Cornwall's constitutional position as a Duchy with a Duke as head of state only do so as a path to Cornish autonomy and empowerment, and have no real wish to see Cornwall rest as a duchy with Charles at its helm.

Take me for example. I think Cornwall should be seen as a Duchy, not part of England and have its stannary/duchy administration restored.

Once this is achived i would hope Cornwall would vote on its future and personally i would vote for a republic with close ties to the EU.

Glad you agree - I've just PM'd you.

Certainly we need some kind of autonomy to give people these choices.

OK firstly, The Duke of Cornwall is our Head of State, right now. The Queen of England is not. To show how this is so, if you die without leaving a will in England, The Queen can if she desires, claim you Estate. She cannot do so in Cornwall, Only the Duke of Cornwall can. Just one example. I am not saying that this is right or just, thats the position.
I am a realist. What i posted a few days ago, was my starting position. Conan you know me quite well, and as such, you know me to be a Republican too. I just do not think it is logical to be as we are now, and then a Republic. It will take time, one to be in a secure finacial position, and for the majority of our people to accept it. Like climbing a ladder, one step at a time.
We would have to build an infastructure, I am one who does not totally agree with the 'don't build more roads' outlook, as i think in time the Human race will come up with an alternative fuel which is non-polluting.
Also it will take time for our People to again believe in Cornwall. When our Children are taught the truth and can once again say 'I am Cornish' then maybe we will be ready for the Republic.

There is no reason why Kernow should recognise English ties or titles, if you take an independent perspective.

PIW, I totally agree, and those who know me, know me as anti Royalist. I was just showing what the position was at this time. Upon reaching a Cornish Republic, I would prefer a Cutural President, similar to the Irish Republic. Please read the end of the first paragraph. icon_smile

Oh, all I want is my country to be free and my children to be as they are.
