It's an an anachronistic term used to refer to a stereotype who has little understanding, and indeed some disdain, of all things non London related, particularly the countryside and country folk! Possibly a sub-species of the urbanite.

A little like the antithesis of the architype Countryside Alliance supporter.

Clear!

Not really.

Is that Hampstead non-London, Tower Hamlets non-London, or Chelsea non-London?

And those "country folk," are they just the Countryside Alliance people or the others?

And whose countryside?

Ah, if only people came neatly packaged in cardboard boxes and stayed in them.

Irony!!! - Now I know how Stroppy feels.

Do you really think when I'm sitting out the back, having a glass of cider discussing the price of butter we talk about 'London types' and 'folk that ain't from around here'.
Give me some credit - I have lived in 3 countries and have the benefit of a decent education
