QuoteI've been checking the MK web-site. There is definitely not a single mention of the FCPNM on this site!

I am amazed that an outwardly Cornish political party is neglecting this aspect of the political scene.

How long have MK been around? Effin years. They have their format and they stick to it. They have been around for years as the 'potential' party for Cornwall; and that seems to have stuck. They are the 'potential' party for Cornwall.

I am now a long term emmit. Yet in all the time I've lived in Cornwall I've never come across MK. Apart from the fact that I've took a genuine interest in Conwall's affairs; combined with the fact that I spend a lot of time on the internet researching interests of a Cornish nature, I would not, after nearly seven years, otherwise have know anything about them.

I like their policies, I like their objectives, I like their ideals..

But they've never got in my face; they've never knocked my door at election time; I've never received a single piece of their paper from them, and I've never read much about them in the local newspapers that's made me flinch one bit..

They are great! But they are not. If that makes any sense..

but I know the number of responses to the Government (responses on C24 do not count) is a whole 100% more than that. So, in truth, 49,998 to go. Plus, of course, the Cornwall 2000 contribution.

And, congratulations too, to TGG for a very well presented critique of the UK government's shambolic and insulting draft 2nd UK FCPNM Compliance Report.

Yes you have, after I emailed them to let them know we had placed a link to their site on TINC and yes agree, they are good people with good policies albeit running along side an English system.

English and Cornish people look alike too. But you wouldn't be so happy about people confusing the two.

Being Cornish has nothing whatsoever to do with one's physical appearance - I should know since my husband's family is from Kingston, Jamaica and he now regards himself emphatically Cornish.

I recall an observation he made to me one evening watching the TV news when the reporter referred to a 'Black' man who had been accused of a crime in London as being "British". My husband remarked that such a 'black' person, facing sucn an accusation, would never ever be described by the news reader as being "English".

So, it seems that some Cornish people do not look like English people in general, people who are never described in anything other than white terms.

Not quite sure what you mean, Shaz? I was trying to say well done to TGG on its excellent criticisms of the UK's draft Compliance report.

Totally disagree with you hen! I would not be in the slightest bothered by such an insignificant perception discrepancy. The Visual difference between Cornish people and English people is totally irrelevant compared to the difference in how they are treated within international law. That is the true difference, and that is what's important to me.

I would have thought you'd be more aware of that, considering the time you've spent on this forum.

This observational difference is exactly the point I was making between Pakkis and Indians. I treat Asian people the same regardless of whether they come from India or Pakistan. People are people. How they are treated is what matters.

Quoteand as far as I'm concerned people from Pakistan are called Pakkis.

Pakki is usually used in the UK as derogatory. Pakistani is OK and accurate provided that it is their national origin.

QuoteAt least they get a tick box on their census form..

There's never been an English tick box on a census form. There's been "White British", as if skin colour is an ethnicity icon_rolleyes

QuoteIf this is offensive then it's because I'm a Liverpudlian from Liverpool.

Whereabouts in the 'Pool? Not only was I there as a student in the 80's - a political education in itself - but much of my family background also is from within a few miles of the Mersey.

I think yous (second person plural in Scouse dialect  ) have been too harsh on FLB.

Regards,

Patrick

Old Swan/Tuebrook area; L13.

I left school in the late 70's when the 'career moves' were an option between 'signing on' or 'moving away'.. I chose moving away. I do believe it's a much better place now thanks to 'Objection One' funding. Though the Liverpudlians did actually receive the funding to do with as they wished, rather than it go, in the first instance, to a North West Regional Assembly type body.

Either way Fish, they don't go through the same confusion as the Cornish do when having to choose between 'white British' and 'other'.
