Strange how the Bush Administration is so in favour of democracy for countries such as Iraq, Iran and Syria. However, Bush's pals Saudi Arabia don't allow women to vote or drive and the democratic process/freedom of speech seem a little supressed to say the least.

Could it have something to do with there being 'good' and 'bad' dictators. Just like there are good and bad democracies, e.g. Chile in 1971, where a socialist government was elected only to be overthrown by an American supported coup led by a US air-strike (on Sept 11th funnily enough). The dictator who was installed was almost on a par with Sadam.

US led democracy - sounds like BULLSHIT to me!

Watched Fahrenheit 911 yesterday. Reinforced my view that US administration is a principle free zone. Of course they chose their countries. The torturers of Egypt like the limb removers of Saudi Arabia don't bother Bush too much. Nor did the Taleban when visiting Texas for oil talks in 2000. As for th Izbeki 'death by boiling' gov't, well Bush has got himself a military base there.

Pass the sick bucket!

Agreed.

The US version of "democracy" means, "you will do what we say". You cannot impose democracy.

Maybe they just want to lower the death rate on the roads.

As an American, I'm glad to see that the world outside is not fooled by our fearless leader. I'm still shocked at the outcome of the last election, and it's hard to live here and have to accept that this is the "leadership" that we're stuck with for the next four years.

I'm ashamed at the fact that I"m American. This whole war is such an obvious lie, and no one here seems to care. What ever happened to protesting and marching? The US populace has been brainwashed and preoccupied by PS2 and MTV. I think that materialism has replaced religion as the "opiate of the masses"...at least here in America.

It just really sickens me.

Like father like son.

If you all drove around in Minis, Bush would not need to invade the Middle East to obtain more oil supplies. He cannot get in a 3rd time, thank (your) God.

Bush is in Europe, trying to make peace why doesn't he visit Iran for talks instead of leaving that to others? He didn't go to Iraq either, and why does he have to force other countries to be a democracy, surely that's their decision. I'm a Christian but I don't like people trying to force their views on others.

Saudi Arabia restricts freedom?!? Really?!? But they don't mention it in the AXIS OF EVIL handbook, so it can't be true.

What about this new alignment called BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China)?
They are rapidly developing countries and have signed a treaty to help each other with oil and other essentials. Russia is backing Tehran and so maybe BRIC could be a new superpower as the USA becomes increasingly isolated diplomatically and economically.
I guess we know where the UK will stand.

Hmmm people don't like Bush and is there some deeper malaise.....Why do people in europe hate Americans? Is this their latent anti-semitism??? Substituting jews for Americans? I support the Eu as it further weakens the UK but America is the last hope of the west - christianity is strong and western culture is too. Europe is a sick decaying man who is not replacing its population - there will be a civil war in the EU if they start to lose their 6 weeks vacation and 35 hour week - think Weimar. I like Americans and I like what they do for the world. They do more good than harm at the end of the day. The americans are not killing Iraqis - if they were serious they would have flattened Falljuah with air strikes....but they sent their own troops in to DIE so as to avoid this. The western parts of Iraq at the time were occupied by the "Jordanian" zarqawi who was implementing a kind of taliban. I remember reading reports of iraqis being freed from Taliban type jails in the western parts of Iraq. No diubt people here think I am being duped by american propaganda but in my eyes the mainstream media is very un-american. Witness these comments on this board. Do my Cornish brothers prefer that Saddam stay in charge? Do they want America to take out Mugabe? Here is a truism - America backed the islamist in Bosnia Izetbegovic over the multicuturalist and federalist Fikret Abdic even though Fikret won the election of 1990!! Fikret abdic and his 10,000 muslims in Bihac were then massacred by the Bosnian Army. America did this to help their friends the saudis. Clinton was a fool - he helped create an islamic state in the heart of europe. Today there are training camps in Bosnia and like all muslim countries its relatively visa free for citizens of other islamic countries hence we have Iranian training camps there. Clinto too was a friend of the Saudis and sold American $ and technology to the slave labour camp running peoples republic of china.

Bush is crook but so was Clinton its just Clinton was more obvious lying, pardoning criminals that were his friends etc. The Uk would be wise to ally itself with the US but that is not really in the interests of the Cornish people who should look to the socialist EU as a source for human rights legislation in order to get back what is ours.

Finally democracy will not work where there is a large islamic prescence. The reason that there are "insurgents" killing Iraqis is that they want a civil war between Sunnis and Shites. then the American democracy won't work -otherwise they realise that the Koran and Sharia etc will be eaten by a cheeseburger and washed down by a coke. the jury is still out on whether the American experiment will work.
