"Brian"I can see why they banned you from the other place now.

What exactly was the connection between the Daily Mail and Nazi Germany?

I don't know about Nazi Germany, but I know that it was the only British newspaper not to be banned in Mussolini's Italy, and the only newspaper to support Oswald Mosely's British Union of Fascists (in an infamous editorial entitled "Hurrah for the Blackshirts").

"Brian"The thing is regarding papers, do they actually have an editorial board who direct what type of news or what politics the paper shoulf follow, or does it just happen that a paper gets a readership and then panders to it gradually becoming more extreme?

Well, I know Rupert Murdoch only employs editors who share his politics, and I assume the same is true of other media barons. The editors then instruct their sub-editors to doctor any story that doesn't conform to the paper's editorial line.

Here is a picture I have found of Daily Mail stalwart Lord Rothermere and 'you know who'.

"stroppygob"Typical of the right wing attitude of today, I despair. They talk about freedom of speech, but only for those who agree with their views.

I'd say the same about the left. Some of the biggest narrow minded bigots I know socialists.

Find me a left-wing newspaper that has draconian policy, and as highly biased reportage, as the Mail, fancyabrew.

That wasn't the point you said

"Typical of the right wing attitude of today, I despair. They talk about freedom of speech, but only for those who agree with their views."

I'd level the same argument against the left. Extremes of all sides of the political spectrum are the same, why just pick on the right? I can think of some right nasty pieces of work in say Class War or Socialist Wanker, sorry worker.
