Well it has finally happened, i have been banned from the "This is Cornwall" website.
I was polite and considerate all the time so i can only assume it was my criticism of the Daily Mail group and their regional news papers that got me kicked out, the website in particular is also part of the of this group.

My basic point, refined after some feed back, was that the Cornish Guardian, The West Briton, the Western Morning News and The Cornishman where all part of the right wing DM group and that i found this unsatisfactory, considering it leads to an almost total local press monopoly in Cornwall.

I also provided this link to a document produced by J Angarrack of Cornwall 2000 that examines the WMN and its relationship to UKIP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Fulub_Le_Breton

I then asked what other press do we have, mentioning the Packet papers, The Cornish Times, Cornish world.

So if any regular "This is Cornwall" users miss me, you know why i am not there any more.

One of my alias got banned today as well, I think they're rooting out the troublemakers.
I had to audacity to ask if the thisiscornwall message board was based in Cornwall. I pretty sure it's based in Exeter and nothing to do with Cornwall at all.

I've posted there asking why you were banned Fulub. If I don't get a reply, or if they state it was for the reasons you give, I'll be out of there too.

Hello Phil, I saw a poster on the public notice board in Penryn, it went like this.

A well repesected son of this parish has been naughty and spoken the truth and has subsequently been barred from the DM message boards.

You know my thoughts on the other message boards, on the BBC one cannot speak the truth without it being rejected.

Perhaps do more, speak less is the answer.

I am only a tourist who loves Cornwall and has visited your country for many a year. I support all your intentions but, if I may say so, look to the future and stop quoting too much from the past.

Not sure I liked the hat, just wondered why such a lovely woman was posing in that photo with you??

Be strong and have longevity.

Oh god no! does that mean you will spend more time on this board? In that case they threw me off because i was offencive and it was an act totally justified by my behaviour. he he he.

But seriously the only thing i can think of that i wrote is that the above mentioned papers "are firmly under the (right) wing of the Daily Mail group".

They wont let me back on the other board to defend myself so i will have to do it here. Let me assure everyone though, because Mr Ed failed to differentiate, i did not make any offencive remarks about anybody.

An Administrator wrote

""The second person consistently makes inaccurate and (in my opinion) libellous statements against the company I work for. I would not allow this against any other company, so why against my own?""

You all read what was written, in my first post i made mistakes, which i corrected and thanked the administrator for his info. What was libellous about suggesting that the papers are influenced by the right wing politics of the parent group. Surely in the interests of press freedom this is a subject that needs to be discussed. If i have made libellous remarks then take me to court.

""It is clearly not true that I denied them the freedom to speak against their perceived concerns about a newspaper monopoly in Cornwall as their remarks were left on this board for all to see for several weeks (until they finally became unacceptable).""

I am sorry but that is laughable, you let me post until you decided to ban me, mmmm?

""It is my view that certain people with an axe to grind against this website, and the company providing it, try to infiltrate themselves among you to persuade you to go elsewhere.""

Yes be ware you poor little sheep, or you will be led away from the light by evil Fulub! In fact i often recommend that internet users go to the 'this is Cornwall' website to ask question (not of a Cornish nationalistic nature), i did today on the BBC site for some one asking about buying a house in Cornwall.

""I am quite happy for others to set up competitive websites and newspapers, but why should I let them knock us just because 'we were here first'?""

Its not because you where here first, where in any of my postings did he get that impression from. So you are saying you will allow no criticism, not just of the website, but the Daily Mail group in general.

basically the administrator, i suspect, was told to remove my postings by powers above him or her

end of story.

Are there any centre/left of centre local newspapers in the UK anymore?
Even the Penwith Pirate has a right wing agenda underneath all that advertising!!!

Its madness, there is a market in Cornwall for left or liberal papers so why is there not one?
Its not huge but from living there and knowing my circle of friends it exists. In know a lot of people buy the Briton because of the adds for jobs, bought and sold, services etc (possibly the same for the CG and CM)and not because they like the editorial or the reporting.

Dare i say it that if the Cornish where a recognised minority under the Council of Europe's treaty in the UK, money and support would be made available for media projects, even if you don't agree with the Cornish minority bit, surely the diversity in media sources would be a good thing?

I have to ask do you ever buy the Western Morning News or are you just complaining because you hate the Daily Mail Fulub-le-Breton? The both newspaper papers although jointly owned do not have the same editors.

Barry Williams is the editor of the Western Morning News and in his editorial yesterday supported MP Andrew George lib-dem MP for St Ives support for farmers.

Barry Williams said

QuoteSometimes I wonder if the loss of farmers is a cause of celebration in Government circles.

The WMN is the daily newspaper in Cornwall and I believe it is unbaised if it was not we would have journalist like Neil young reporting - the other Cornish papers are only on sale on Thursday once a week.

What is most laughable is that Ed/loyal manservant/Daily Mail stickler actually believes there is some kind of gang organised conspiracy to slander his good site.

I frequent that board and from what I can make out a few people asked if the site was based in Cornwall, had anything to do with Cornwall, and if Ed was from Cornwall, or had anything to do with Cornwall or had even been to Cornwall.

Axes to grind? Infiltration? Oh, come off it...

If you can't stand the heat just silence those around you.

Typical of the right wing attitude of today, I despair. They talk about freedom of speech, but only for those who agree with their views.
