My children came back from school yesterday saying they'd had an assembly about St George! Apparently a lot of the children pointed out that it was, in fact, St Pirans day and the teacher said she was aware of that but she'd specifically been asked to do a talk on St George. I called the school just now and am waiting for them to call back. Is it unreasonable for me to be quite upset by this?

Quoteshe'd specifically been asked to do a talk on St George.

There's many reasons to give a talk to Cornish School children about St George. There's only one reason for doing it on St Piran's Day.

Lizzie,

Its a disgusting situation because the government should provide for the education of the national minorities, such as the Cornish, within the UK.

My best advice would be to get your hands on a copy of John Angarracks's book, 'Our Future is History'. In part the book describes JA's own struggle to get a Cornish education for his Cornish children and provides plenty of advice, hints and tips for other parents who wish to do the same thing.

You could always get like minded Parents at the School and all go to see the Head at the same time. That more that do it the more effective the result will be. At the end of the day we need a truely Cornish Curriculum

Maybe an after school class in Cornish history/culture could be arranged with the school. Any students, teachers, or students whose parents wish for them to learn Cornish history/culture could come along.

Until we get a Cornish curriculum

We will make Cornwall see the lies.
We will open up their eyes.
We Cornish born and bred.
We fight on till we all are dead.

I reckon sending information packs to schools would be a good idea...
