last visit: 03.09.08 		This could have exsisted, or possible a figment of my imagination, but if anyone knows of it, please tell me what it is or possible could you fill me in on the story.


It is a storey about a Giant, it talks about him growing up and eatting pasties to make him big and strong... I remember he worked for an inn keeper, he used to shift his barrels about, I can remember he used to lift two full kegs at a time... He used his work as a way to get fit... I believe it was to fight a nasty evil giant that took taxes of the locals... I think at the end he wrestles him and wins and everyone lives happily ever after.

Does this sound familiar... spose its a bit like the story of gogmagog, but im sure i heard it as a child!

last visit: 06.09.08 		I don't reckon Nosdan is off with the fairies - this looks like the Bottrell story of eight foot Tom of Bowgyheere who was delivering barrels of beer for the mayor of 'Market Jew'to St Ives when he met Giant Denbras. They had a fairly friendly fight but Tom, not knowing his own strength fatally wounded Denbras. The old Giant told him he was a true Cornish boy and left him his worldly possessions - which were extensive. Tom quickly buried him, rushed to drop the beer in St Ives and back again to Market Jew where the Midsummer Golowan bonfires were burning for the festivities and dancing that were taking place that night.

last visit: 30.08.08 		It's called Tom and the Giants Treasure. I can't remember who wrote it down, but I think I have a copy somewhere. Kerrow \i think is spot on.
