PRESS RELEASE
It is looking like civil disobedience similar to that witnessed in Wales during recent times is to be the order of the day in Cornwall during 2011 when already 260 people have pledged to refuse to co-operate by declining to complete the Census form. What is being called for is a specific Census for Cornwall not marked with the word 'England' and a specific tick box for those who identify themselves as 'Cornish.'
The pledgebank campaign which is linked to the Cornish gateway website http:www.cornishnotenglish.com invites pledges from those who are prepared to break the law rather than complete the Census form and, as it has only been open for pledges for a few months shows every sign of exceeding 1000 people if the Office for National Statistics fails to heed calls from the Cornish people.
The ONS are actually arranging a meeting at Truro's Alverton Manor Hotel during the afternoon of Friday 20th April, 2007 which has been opened up to the public. Cornish campaigners, working through arrangements made by the Cornish Branch of the International Celtic League have arranged a presence at every one of the ONS workshops in Sheffield, London and Cardiff over the past month or so with a record number travelling to Cardiff to say 'No Cornish Tick Box and Cornish Census - No Census return !'
It is envisaged by some that a coffin will be carried with the declined Census forms and be officially buried as was the case in Wales. Suppoprt has been gleaned from a recent Channel 4 documentary during which a prominent academic through DNA research has proven that the Cornish people as with the Welsh, are the original indigeneous people of Britain whose presence in these islands far predated the arrival of the Anglo Saxons and the creation of England.

Now...That would never have done as an "operational message switch" would it!

Sorry Graham (Great name!) Its essentially about presenting information concisely, accurately and in a focussed manner that media people find acceptable to publish.

Freekernow's press release would have been sent back for a re-write.

Do an edit then please Graham.
It seems okay to me. After all, it's only a press release, and since when have the media ever bothered with accuracy ?

Its not really for me to edit anyone else's press release, is it?

Its a brave attempt, but tries to put over TOO MUCH detail (IMHO).

I think press releases are important for anyone who wants publicity for their cause and
will be interested to see if it gets published.

(I understand that the local press get a lot of press releases that they do not publish.)

The ideals behind local media are fine, but the necessities of 'business' in the modern world mean that papers have to "sell", and the editors sometimes have to compromise.

A memorial stone is to be erected in the Duchy to commemorate the lives lost when the fishing trawler Bugaled Breizh mysteriously sunk off the Cornish coast in 2004: http://www.agencebretagnepresse.com/fetch.php?id=6972&title=kernow:%20MEMORIAL%20PLANNED%20FOR%20THOSE%20LOST%20ON%20BUGALED%20BREIZH

More great work from the CL.

When a member you will receive the regular Celtic league publication of Carn, which is written in the 6 Celtic languages and English and will be supporting the work of interCeltic cooperation. The Celtic League has branches in the six Celtic Countries of north western Europe (Brittany, Cornwall, Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland and Wales). It works to promote cooperation between these countries and campaigns on a broad range of political, cultural and environmental matters. It targets human rights abuse and monitors all military activity within these areas.

Carn is the longest running publication of its type in the world.

We are still raising funds for the stone. If you want to donate, send an email to rhisiart.talebot@gmail.com or visit Mike.

The court case is still going in in France about the sinking of the Bugaled Breizh. To keep up to date with it in English subscribe to the Celtic League News site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/celtic_league/
If you want to know any more contact the email shown above.
