Looking for any information on Gwendoline BROOKS, unsure if this was her maiden or married name.
In 1940/1 she was living at 22, Nightingale Place, Woolwich, London. At this time her father, brother and niece were living in or near Plymouth. I believe she well educated, and employed at this time.
She had an association with Mabel Bower SADDINGTON (born Birmingham 4.10.1895 died 21.03.1974) Mabel was Godmother to my father (John Anthony JELBERT,also known as Tony SADDINGTON born Bristol 7.04.!929 died 2.05.1994)Son of Eliza (LYLIE) Jelbert. Mabel took care of my father in Birmingham until c1940, she then went to Liverpool to become Matron of The Legion of Mary Hostel at Blundell Sands. At this time she ceased contact with my father.
Gwendoline BROOKS then wrote a number of letters to the childrens home where my father was, asking after his welfare and referring to Mabel. also stating my father was named in her will.
I am desperate to find the connection between these ladies and my father.
Thanks in anticipation

Yes Tam, I am that Diane, sure is a small world. Barbara has stayed with us twice, with Eddy the first time. Always spend time with her when I'm home, My daughter Claire was staying with John for 3 days a few weeks ago after her holiday in Europe, she visited Barbara, and she was thrilled to see her. I didn't know Alans children, so couldn't place the name, I know Paul's children and Kevin's children, how old are Kevin's children now?
