'To ‘Facebook’
06.10.2007

KERNOW is the native language name for Cornwall which is NEXT to England
like Wales, and as distinct from England as Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
You will find many references confirming this fact at authoritative
locations on the internet.
Please therefore include 'KERNOW' as a geographical network option
within the UK.
Not to do so is offensive and its absence denies those who wish to
select this option the choice of doing so.

Please advise via e mail when this is done and that regional designation
becomes available.

From ‘Facebook’:
08.10.2007

Thanks for the suggestion. We will certainly keep it in mind as we
continue to improve the site.

Thanks for contacting Facebook

To ‘Facebook’:
10.10.2007

Thank you for your prompt reply.

As things stand, people of Cornwall who wish to select 'Kernow' or even 'Cornwall' as their regional designation are being denied that option.

You will find that MANY residents and natives of Kernow/Cornwall will choose that designation over ANY other.

Therefore it is in the best interests of 'Facebook' to make that regional designation available as soon as possible.

Thanks again for your responsiveness to this correspondence and we look forward to this option being made available soon so we can make our location known in terms that make sense.

From ‘Facebook’:
22.10.2007

Thanks again for your feedback. We hope to add this as an option in the
future.

Thanks for contacting Facebook.'

Facebook is not the only social networking site that only allows the option of putting England, Scotland or Wales (ie and not Britain or UK). I've tried asking for a Cornwall or United Kingdom option on others but the response you get is the same as the one from Facebook without any actual action. We need more people to ask for the Cornwall option.

Put Cornwall on Facebook !!

We the undersigned believe that Cornwall should have its own Network Region on Facebook. Cornwall possesses one of the world's oldest natural borders, its own language and flag, and a population of 500,000 people. We therefore believe that the owners of Facebook should now recognise this by introducing the Cornwall Network region.

From Julia's website:

"A petition calling on Facebook to recognise Cornwall as a county will be presented to Parliament next week by Julia Goldsworthy MP."

Why limit it to Facebook?

Make a petition that all Internet sites must recognise Cornwall as a seperate state.
I've had to say i'm in Wales many times.

I'm glad Julia has a sense of duty when it comes to the real issues of Cornwall icon_mad .

Julia is demanding that Cornwall is DOWNGRADED from regional /national status to COUNTY!!!

This is despicable behaviour by an MP who is effectively be demanding that Cornwall is joined to Plymouth and Devon as a county.

Looney lib-dem Julia Goldsworthy is no Cornishwoman.

It shows that going to a private school for girls far away from the area she claims to represents has made her old-fashioned and out of touch with the modern nation of Cornwall.

Facebook Cornish Independence - To establish an independent Cornwall. 1. Cornwall is not part of England. 2. Cornish schools should teach the Cornish language and Cornish history. 3. Cornwall should be allowed to govern itself free from interference from Westminster.
