I am seeking family members of Roberts/ Dixon family who were originally from Cornwall.
My great grandfather was James Dixon (b.3/12/1864). His father was George Dixon from St Feock. James Dixon was a blacksmith/journeyman.
My great grandfather was Edith Roberts (b.20/8/1867). Her father was John Roberts from Penzance.
James went to Chile to work in a silver mine and married Edith there on 16/9/1897. They lived in Chile for 10 years. James also had a cousin in Chile called Norma.
James and Edith returned to Cornwall and had 4 children, Nora Kathleen (b.16/8/1906), Doreen Elana (b.11/5/1908), Oscar James (b.11/4/1910) and Marion Patricia (b.16/12/1912).
James, Edith and their children all came to Australia. They lived first in Billabong before settling in Wagga Wagga.
Edith had a 3 sisters called Pollyanna, Lydia and Kate (who died during childbirth) and 3 brothers called John, Frank and Thomas.
James had 3 sisters called Kate, Edith and Alice and 2 brothers called Harry and Thomas
My Grandmother, Doreen Dixon’s birth was registered in the district of Truro and Sub District of Kea. The family possibly lived in Little Fregew.
If anyone can help me trace these family members, contact me on (02) 9626 8264 or write to Diane Vernon, 54 Pendley Cres, Quakers Hill 2763, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
