What does it mean to be English?
Being English is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer then travelling home grabbing an Indian curry or a Chinese on the way to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American soap shows on a Japane
I have spent time in Ireland. And I have read the EU Treaty of Lisbon
I am not surprised they voted No to the EU Treaty. The irish people were concerned about the EU integration. That was obvious from listening to them in Dublin
Still trying to get us to vote again over here what part of no we are not intrested to day not understand
Roche defends Lisbon comments
Monday, 25 August 2008 13:30
Minister for European Affairs Dick Roche has defended his belief that a second Lisbon Treaty referendum may be necessary.
Speaking on Morning Ireland, he said this was his personal opinion. Ireland, he said, had to remain at the heart of the EU.
Ministers have so far called it too early to say if Ireland would hold another vote on the treaty meant to replace the EU Constitution rejected by French and Dutch voters in 2005.
Advertisement'My personal view is that a referendum is the appropriate response to the position we are in,' Mr Roche also told the Irish Independent.
'This is very much a personal view at this stage.'
Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin said last month Ireland would give the EU clarity on the way forward by a December summit.
Mr Roche said, however, that all 26 other member states were likely to have ratified the treaty by the end of the year, which would leave Ireland in an isolated position.

And you say you have managed to read the Treaty of Lisbon
I find that hard to believe, it runs to 271 pages. From your posts elsewhere you seem to have a great deal of trouble reading and understanding a simple post let alone grasping a complex international treaty.
That being said I think it good that the Irish have done this. The undemocratic nature of the EU is a problem, but it is the national governments that like it that way, as a "democratic" EU leadership would be a potential source of conflict with national governments.
