It's a pity that the term "Council" is still to be used. Like the old "Corporation", the word is outdated, outmoded and pretty jaded. Presumably the new authority can call itself what it likes. So how about "Assembly of Cornwall" (Kessedha Kernow)? .
I sent out 145 emails to Town and Parish Councils. They are still coming in as some have not yet met, but apparently, there is a meeting tomorrow at Truro to decide it's fate. I don't know if it's the implementation committee or a full Council meeting. Does anyone out there know anything ?
Up to now, I have had 49 replies, with only one supporting the Logo. Among those against, there have been some very angry and unanimous Councils and Councillors.

A friend who is active in matters Cornish has included me in a mass email asking me to support the petition for retention of the "Coat of Arms" instead of the new Cornwall Council Logo, here is my reply to him...
"Tony, I don’t get contrary just for the sake of contrariness, but I supported the ‘new logo’ and still do.
My reasons are that the old, full “County Council” crest is a proper authorised coat of arms issued to “Cornwall County Council”, and is associated with that body, and its history and the good work it has had.. (I won’t dwell here on screw ups!).
“One Cornwall” derives from a UK Government suggestion fallen on by people who wanted it for their own reasons, enacted DESPITE substantial democratic opposition.
The people of Cornwall were never properly “educated” as to what moving to a Unitary Authority involved, so there could be no maturing debate, and there was not the referendum that such a big proposed change merits.
As “One Cornwall” is therefore a “made up thing” I believe the simplistic trendy modern logo is ENTIRELY RIGHT FOR IT!
The College of Arms proper title for a “coat of arms” is a “FULL ACHIEVEMENT” in their archaic English
I don’t believe the new Unitary Authority DESERVES the traditional coat of arms yet, and might never deserve it! I honestly feel it should be withheld until the people of Cornwall are satisfied that the Unitary Authority has EARNED it... make it something they have to ACHIEVE!
In my humble opinion I think it is completely wrong that people are actively campaigning to GIVE the Coat Of Arms to “One Cornwall”.. is this some sort of trick from a crafty element??
Well there's a " sit on the fence " statement if ever I saw one.
About the trashiest post I've ever seen from you Coady.
Talk about confusing the confused !

Graham, I guess from your reaction that I might not have made the post as clear as it could be? (it was as written casually to an old friend familiar with my 'style')
Put another way...
The new an-asked for and unwanted "Unitary Authority" might be about to bring us years of higher council tax, poorer services, confusion and misery and you want them to have the "Cornish Coat of Arms" as their symbol??
I suppose I'm a 'minority of one' again, but I don't thik they should even be allowed to use it until they have proven their worth!
I can see your point Coady, though thinking about it, what wording is the new logo going to appear next to? 'One Cornwall' or 'Cornwall County Council'.
Hmmm. Fair point Graham, but all across Cornwall I find people outraged at this, and these include many who normally could'nt care less about such things. Therefore on their behalf, I feel we must continue our campaign to keep the Crest.

Would someone like to tell this obviously non-Cornish "spokesperson" that Cornish people do not do "straplines". We do mottos, and our motto is, was and always will be Onen hag Oll (in that time-honoured spelling - why waste even more public money for the sake of one letter).
Time these people learned that they are Public SERVANTS not rulers. They do as the people say, not the other way round. Unless, of course, they want to risk having their entire received correspondence, form-filling etc., etc. written entirely in Cornish. And, just to confuse them further, of whatever spelling system people want to use.
