I've been down here for 11 days now, and there's been no surf at all.

Baking hot, mind. Truro sseems to have a larger population of homeless at the moment, but that's probably due to the weather.

So it must be summer.

In the latest Cornish World, there's this story about a wet drop in centre being proposed in Truro where the street drinkers can go and drink unbothered.

Maybe all the street homeless are waiting for it to open. Actually, that's unfair not all street homeless are drinkers.

Penzance, once the Mecca for 'street life', has calmed down. Maybe, it's more fruitful to beg in Truro.

Masterclass, at least it's not raining.

You'll have to take up another activity for times like these Masterclass. I was out on the kayak on Sunday from early in the morning until early evening. I could have taken a fishing rod with me or alternatively snorkelling or diving gear. If a bit of surf comes up I've got the "sponge" for that. 8)

I've spent the morning sat in my shorts in the sun reading a book, and fielding the occasional ohone call from work. Been good, it has.

So pleased summer has arrived for you all, you can't beat Cornwall on a summers day, many happy memories there for me. Winter has finally hit us, cold winds off the mountains, school holidays, so many skiing, not far from here. 124mls of much needed rain over the weekend, so we're happy too.

My friend and I were struggling for non surfing activities, so we painted his living room.

Diane,

Dead right the summer is quite beautiful in Cornwall, still winter in Sydney is not bad as well, except the water is frezing at the moment (18deg), mind you february swells in Polzeath are damn cold as well!

Blooming hell - 18 deg C would be positively boiling here. I have a 7mm semi dry for diving which I generally over-heat in summertime so more often wear me 3mm. Just wondered if 'frezing' was a new cool Ozzie dudes word?? icon_smile

I was expecting a remark about the sea temperature, compared to cornwall, 18c here in winter was certainly hot. It's been cold with snow in many sea level places over the last few says, The Brighton [Melbourne] ice bergs still went for a dip and I bet the water was warmer than the land temperature. Still cold, but the sunshine, almost alway sunshine, makes us all feel good. I really feel I'd have trouble living in Cornwall during the winter, been away too long to deal with the fog and gloom.

yeah Melbourne in Winter....no thanks, no swell, great place to visit and shop!

morgarrow, 5/3mm steamer wetti in summer good to about 15m, gets a bit chilly after that not bad when you think how much that compresses down to. The diving in Sydney is great, but some people have said Cornwall is just as good.... ?

Went for a wave yesterday it felt more like 13deg, mind you I think thats cos I had a bad day spent more time under the water than on!!
